So It Goes 03:06
I recall a kid who lived for tempting fate, too smart for his surroundings in every way. He let me in on all of his plans for escape. I'd navigate the dust he kicked up in his wake. I recall those dissonant chords we would strike & our black flags reaching to the sky. Our magnifying glasses zooming in on the whole world become kindling. Of the two of us, your escape talk was far more serious than my cloud of dust. You could have done anything.

Get Through 04:07
The overload is set to stun; every mouth babbles at once. Airwaves breaking to white noise, static swallowing my voice. & they've got us all surrounded, voices coming through the walls. Look in my eyes when we're talking, I'll do the same for you. Let's leave no room for interruptions. That's how we'll get through. Disembodied talking head conversations like canned laughter. Pay no mind to the living dead, food for thought's not what they're after.

Well, being here just bleeds the life right out of me. Like getting boulders uphill is something to achieve, only to watch them roll right back to from where they came. & they need no invitation; they will just walk right in. No matter your situation, they'll get under your skin. I beat the daybreak, lose to the sunset everyday. Stuck in the dark now; I work overtime even in my dreams. No time to reflect when there's a battle to be waged. & they need no invitation; they will just walk right in. No matter your situation, they'll get under your skin. I'm in over my head.

What's the hold-up? Time is wasting. I don't pay you for complaining. Got a million precious snowflakes like you itching to take your place. Well, it could always be worse. What's the hold-up? Time is money. Bet you'll never get much from me. How I make it doesn't take much: another day, another pay cut. Well, it could always be worse. Millions, millions all just like you: fodder, fodder, fodder, fodder.

When you learn the game is rigged & playing along is not an option, that's when your life becomes a fight that shows no signs of stopping, stopping. If you're honest, you'll question it all. By sheer force of will, your struggles blossomed poignant beauty & for so long, you sang your song - cry love, cry hope, cry fury, fury. If you're honest, you'll question it all. I know wishing won't do anything unlike what everybody seems to think. All that matters is what you do about it; here's your problem, giving in won't solve it, no... When I think of your words, I can't help but feel cheated, angry at all the rest now left unsaid - the conversation dangling, dangling... If you're honest, you'll question it all. I know wishing won't do anything unlike what everybody seems to think. All that matters is what you do about it; here's your problem, giving in won't solve it, no... & if someone ever deserved better, then that someone was you.
